A Weekend with Wool: Travelling Light & Being Prepared

A Weekend with Wool: Travelling Light & Being Prepared

Whether you’re hiking rugged trails, canoeing misty lakes at dawn, camping under star-filled skies, there’s one secret weapon you’ll want with you this summer: wool. I know, I know, you're thinking wool in the summer? No way! We can promise you - it’s light, versatile, and amazingly good at keeping you comfy.

A Weekend Reunited at Killarney

After half a decade apart, my friend Megan and I reunited for a camping trip at Killarney Provincial Park. We kayaked amongst the quartzite mountains and wind-swept water by day, relaxed around the campfire by night, and had wool layers as our trusty sidekicks the entire time.

Kayaking escapades: Even when our Engel t-shirts and leggings got wet from paddle splashes, they dried very quickly. They smelled fresh as daisies thanks to wool’s natural odour-resistance.

Campfire cosiness: As the evening chill set in, my heavyweight Eco Sport leggings kept me snug as a bug and helped fend off the swarms of blackflies. Megan and I wore our base layers under PJs with woolly socks for a warm and cozy nights sleep.

Pack-light freedom: Everything we needed - shirts, leggings, base layers, socks and even our swimsuits fit into two backpacks. Wool compresses down tiny but still delivers seriously cosy warmth.

We weren’t sure what the weather would bring. The forecast had predicted rain and cooler temperatures, but we arrived to a sunny and warm day instead. As the air chilled in the evening and the next day, it was so lovely to be bundled in woolens, not drenched in sweat, shivering from the cold or smelling from the day before - just pure and natural comfort

Why Wool Rocks for Warm Weather

Wool is amazingly lightweight and packs down so small that you’ve got plenty of room for all your essentials. It naturally removes odours, so whether you’re trekking, paddling, or playing, you stay fresh. Even if you wake to dewy mornings or take an accidental dip, your wool will be dry by breakfast. It’s clever at regulating temperature by keeping you cool when you’re on the move and cosy when you stop. From crisp mornings in the tent to warm afternoons on the water, wool truly has your back.

Here’s to fresh air, great memories and the unbeatable wonder of wool. See you outside!
