I Love Summer, and I Can’t Wait

I Love Summer, and I Can’t Wait

There comes a point every spring when I start looking ahead.

Not just to warmer temperatures, but to the feeling of summer itself.

The first real lake morning.
Backyard evenings that stretch long after sunset.
The smell of campfire smoke settles into sweaters and blankets.

I can feel it coming already.

And if you know me, you know something else too:

Where I go, my wool goes too.

Not because I’m preparing for winter, but because wool has become part of how I experience the outdoors in every season.

Yes, even summer.

Summer, for me, is made up of small treasures.

Gardens overflowing and flowers opening wider every day.
Fresh asparagus in spring, followed by raspberries warm from the sun.
Carrots pulled right from the earth.

Baby lambs in the fields.
Calves learning to run.

There is so much life everywhere you look.

And then come the adventures.

Camping trips.
Weekends in the backyard around a simple campfire.
Last-minute cottage trips, even if only for a night or two.

A towel over the shoulder.
Sand between my toes.
Picnics packed into baskets.
Sticky fingers from melted s’mores.

These are the moments I wait for all year long.

And even in summer, the fibres we wear matter.

Because lake mornings can still feel cool.
Evenings by the fire still ask for warmth.
And a breeze off the water can change everything.

So alongside the bathing suits and picnic blankets, you’ll still find:

  • wool socks
  • a favourite wool fleece sweater
  • a soft wool/silk tee
  • a light scarf and hat tucked nearby “just in case”

Not heavy.
Not wintery.
Just comfortable, breathable warmth for real-life outdoor use.

I think that’s one reason I love wool so much. It allows me to stay outside longer—to linger at the beach after sunset, enjoy the early quiet of morning, and stay cozy around the fire for “one more story.”

Summer really is coming, and I cannot wait.

For gardens and campfires.
For lakes and long evenings.
For bare feet and sweaters somehow existing in the very same day.

And yes—my wool will be coming with me on every adventure.
