Disana Baby/Toddler Diaper Cover, Wool - PRE-ORDER

Disana merino wool over-pants with a high knitted waistband stops leaks and keeps baby’s tummy warm, helping to keep baby warm all over.

The breathability, absorbency, and self-cleaning properties of wool make it a great cloth diaper cover.  They are natural alternatives to plastic, non-breathable diaper covers; thus helping with less diaper rash. Wool is an excellent solution for heavy wetters and nighttime diapering.  They are even suitable for small children and can be used as pants or shorts.

Lanolin, the natural oil in sheep wool, is moisture repellant and is what makes the wool antibacterial.  The lanolin is slightly acidic which neutralizes the alkalinity of urine.  The lanolin and self-cleaning properties of the wool allow wool diaper covers to be worn, hung inside out to dry, are hygienically clean and can be re-used many times before washing.

If all the lanolin in the woollen over-pants is used up, or if the pants have been cleaned, lanolin must be added again. Disana lanolin treatment can be used to replenish the water repellant nature of wool. The woollen over-pants then stop leaks again for weeks.

Re-lanolizing is needed when the wool starts smelling “not so fresh” or if it starts to leak. Depending on the frequency of use, the amount of lanolin in the wool, and whether it is soiled from wear, this can be anywhere from 1-4 weeks between washings.   The diaper covers can also be a bit felted as it makes the wool more leak-proof, however, felting also means that the cover has less elasticity or stretch.

There are two methods for lanolizing: (1) wet method, and (2) dry method.
Wet Method: Prepare a sink with warm water and wool wash.  Take a small jar and add a pea-sized amount of liquid or solid lanolin, drop of baby shampoo, and very hot water.  Shake to completely dissolve the lanolin (if you see yellow globs, it is not dissolved) and add this to your sink, swish to mix, then add your wool cover inside out.  Allow the wool to soak for about 20-60 minutes, then drain allowing the lanolin-rich water to run through the cover.  Make sure your wash water remains relatively warm to prevent lanolin from pooling and forming spots. Gently squeeze out water and roll in a towel. Lay flat to dry.

Dry Method: Make sure the cover is clean and dry.  Turn inside out and work a pea-sized amount of lanolin into your hands.  Gently touch the wet zone with a light hand.  Once the lanolin is distributed, work deep into the fibres.  This puts the lanolin right where it is needed.

Best, bar none

These are amazing. My babies are lean, and leaking out of diapers or diaper covers is a thing with lean babies. These take care of that. And blowouts are non-existant as long as the cover fits over their bellybuttons.

Sizing: They run small.
I like size 6-12 mo for getting the most use in the first year. They grow out of 3-6mo pretty fast (although you can use 3-6mo for disposable diapers or undies)

Best babywear ever!

Both my kids wore these diaper covers for the first two years of their lives. They are super soft and the wool doesn’t smell. It’s amazing. And there’s nothing like having wool against the skin of your babe to keep the cozy and secure. I can’t recommend them enough. When staining did eventually happen a good soak and extra wool wash cleaned them up great.

Best covers

These become soooo soft. And when properly lanolized are amazing at containing leaks. Goodbye disposables. The waistband is very comfortable and warm for baby too! LOVE

Best Night-time Diaper covers!

I have used Disana wool covers for years as a reliable cloth diaper cover for night-time.

Paired with a good cotton fitted diaper (disana, mother-ease or babee greens); it provides a leak free and comfortable cloth night-time option for babies. I have even used Disana wool covers with a large fastened prefold & doubler for a successful night-time option for toddlers as well.

Baby wakes up in the morning rash-free despite the cotton being soaked!

Nice colors and easy to wash with a wool wash (I only need to wash mine ever 1-2weeks with eucalan wool wash).
